If there is any single item of clothing that epitomises what it is to be a man then it is the blazer. Wear it correctly and you’ll look and feel like a million bucks but wear a size too large and it will look like you got it from your dad’s antique wardrobe!
So what are the key considerations when purchasing a blazer?
1. It has to fit well!
- the blazer should rest nicely on your shoulders
- the blazer should accentuate the natural contours of your shoulders and waist
- the sleeves should go no further than the base of your palms when your arms are by your side.
2. Its got to be different!
- Apart from the classic black that every man should have, I would highly recommend going for another one that is either unique in design or in colour.
Did you know? The world blazer originated in 1825 from the rowing club of St. John’s College, Cambridge. Club members wore jackets that were termed blazers because of the bright red cloth they had.
